In the cosy Appenzeller region, many things are close at hand – even the paths of chef Jürgen Schmid (last twelve years at “Aglio e Oglio”, Speicher) and Carlo Bet (for the last seven years sous-chef at the Landgasthof Sammelplatz, Appenzell-Meistersrüte) cross again at Hotel Bären. With his Meditterranean cuisine with Alpine influence Jürgen Schmid achieved 13 GaultMiliau points at the “Aglio e Oglio”.
In 2020, further boutique rooms and suites as well as the sauna area in the listed building were upgraded to a high standard. Only the best for the guests is the concept. Because for owner Jan Schoch from Appenzell, the Bären has family feelings, since his parents celebrated their marriage here. It is therefore important to him that everyone – whether hiker or business guest – immediately feels at home.
